‘Give me proof, and I'll walk out myself'
The Darshan-Vijayalakshmi case took another curious turn, with the Kannada Film Producers' Association (KFPA) turning its ire on model-turned-actor Nikita Thukral, for allegedly “creating disharmony in Mr. Darshan's family.”
For this, she has been banned from acting in Kannada movies for three years, while Mr. Darshan, the perpetrator of the violence against his wife, appears to have been let off the hook by the producers' forum.
The KFPA, after an emergency meeting here on Sunday, imposed the ban on the multilingual actor. According to KFPA sources, association president Munirathna announced the decision.
“We felt that Ms. Nikita was responsible for creating a big storm in Mr. Darshan's family life,” actor-producer Rockline Venkatesh told The Hindu.
“A stringent initiative is needed against her. Thus, the KFPA decided that none of the producers should sign her up for three years,” Mr. Venkatesh added.
Mr. Darshan's wife, Vijayalakshmi, had named Ms. Nikitha in her police complaint against her husband, which she later withdrew in front of the metropolitan magistrate.
Meanwhile, Ms. Nikita, who is based in Andhra Pradesh, has slammed the producers' association's decision. “The KFPA should give me proof about an affair with Mr. Darshan. I will voluntarily walk out of the Kannada film industry,” a furious Ms. Nikita told presspersons.
Ms. Nikita has acted in ‘Vamshi,' ‘Nariya Seere Kadda,' ‘Prince,' ‘Sangolli Rayanna' and ‘Yodha' in Kannada. She has also acted in several Telugu and Tamil movies.
